WPD respond to shots fired in residential area

A social media post from the Winchester Police Department (WPD) reports an arrest having been made of one Donald Cox.

Police responded to reports of an intoxicated man firing a gun in the 1600 block of S. Braddock St. Winchester.

This led to the brief lock down of nearby Quarles Elementary School until the subject was in custody according WPD Officer Amanda Behan.

When officers arrived they found the 36 year old Cox with a gun and in the possession of several types of drugs.

Cox has been charged with public intoxication.

He also faces two counts of possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm charges and could see more charges pending consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Police report no injuries in the incident but a car was struck by one of the two bullets that were fired.

Cox is currently held without bond.
