Dr. Greene joins Gov. Youngkin’s health team
Governor Glenn Youngkin on the official Governor Web Page announced several key administrative appointments.
Youngkin calls the appointments the most important management team he has ever assembled.
Telling Virginians that they can rest assured they have brought together the most qualified team that they deserve.
One of those appointments includes the current Director of the Lord Fairfax Health District Dr. Colin Greene as the acting commissioner of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).
Dr. Greene will continue to serve as the director of the Lord Fairfax Health District but expects to have a replacement ready within the week.
Dr. Greene will replace out going commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver who served under Gov. Northam.

TVRC Greater Good Award winners
The Vice President of Valley Health and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Winchester Medical Center Dr. Nicolas Restrepo was named Citizen of the Year at the 2021 Greater Good Awards.
Presented by Top of Virginia Regional Chamber (TVRC) the awards also recognized in their Circle of Excellence Awards Dr. Jeff Feit, Dr. Colin Greene and Dr. Iyad Sabbagh and Mark Nantz.
Small business of the year award winner was Kimberly’s of Winchester.
Large business of the year winner YHB CPAs and Consultants of Winchester.
Non-profit of the year went to United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley/Valley Assistance Network.
The Entrepreneur of the year award winner was Tom Stamulis.
The first ever Legacy Award went to Wilkins’ Shoe Center of Winchester for 73 years of membership.
The 2021 Greater Good Awards were presented by Valley Health at Alamo Drafthouse Thursday Mar. 18.

COVID-19 Variant found in Northwest VA.
The COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7 has been identified in a northwest Virginia resident.
Lord Fairfax Health District Director Dr. Colin Greene reminds us that continued mask wearing, social distancing as well as washing hands is the best way to protect ourselves.
The variant is associated with increased person to person transmission of COVID-19.
Dr. Greene stresses where the Lord Fairfax Health District is a part of the Northwest region the case may not be local.
Continued reinforcement of COVID-19 protocols is the best way to protect oneself.
