WPD reports problems contacting ECC with cell phones

The Winchester Police Department (WPD) reports a problem may still exist when attempting to call 911.

The issue involves several cellular phone service carriers when attempting to call the Emergency Call Center (ECC).

The Apr. 14 report states that Verizon customer callers are now being routed to the non-emergency number when calling.

That means that there maybe extra necessary questions asked before service can be provided.

The WPD ask for your patience when placing a call.

Again this is affecting only center cellular phone service carriers and is being urgently addressed by authorities and will be corrected as soon as possible.

If you are attempting to contact the ECC and experiencing difficulties call (540) 662-4131.

An announcement will be made as soon as the issue is resolved.
