Spotsylvania school teacher arrested for narcotics on the job

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a school teacher and her husband for being under the influence of drugs on school property.

Spotsylvania second-grade teacher Candyce and her husband Kristopher Carter are facing charges after an at school incident.

A school Resource Officer at Spotswood Elementary School suspected that second grade teacher 35-year-old Candyce Carter was under the influence of drugs.

Further investigation found the suspected narcotic in her classroom.

Shortly thereafter Carter’s husband 34-year-old Kristopher was found in the parking lot under the influence of suspected narcotics and requiring medical attention.

A 2-year-old child was found in the vehicle with the husband.

Both Carters were incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional jail in Stafford Virginia.

Candyce is facing felony possession of a scheduled 1 2 narcotic, child endangerment, and child neglect or abuse.

Kristopher was placed under arrest and is charged with two felonies of child endangerment and child neglect and abuse.

Kristopher has been arrested with a $5,000 bond while Candyce is being held without bond.

No students reported any injury or exposure after thoroughly checked by medical personnel.

The classroom was professionally cleaned after the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Spotsylvania Social Services and School Administration.
