Lonnie's Fun Fact for Monday October 19, 2020. Today we'll take a look at a few odd laws that are, or at least were at one time, on the books. Some of these are state wide laws while others are for specific counties or towns. If you're in Alaska, don't even think about throwing a live moose out of an airplane, it's illegal. In Missouri it's illegal to drive with an uncaged bear. Another bear related law comes from Oklahoma where it's illegal to wrestle a bear. In New York, it's illegal for two or more people to meet in public wearing masks. I'm sure this one has gone out the window with the ongoing pandemic. In Texas it's illegal to change the weather. It's also illegal in Texas to carry a concealed ice cream cone. In Connecticut a pickle can't be called a pickle if it doesn't bounce. Finally, in Washington state it's illegal to poach a sasquatch, at least on the roughly one million acres in Whatcom County. The whole county is a sasquatch protection and refuge area. Lonnie's Fun Fact for Friday October 16, 2020. A musical fun fact today. We all love our music. It's a universal language that nearly everyone understands. Many of us have gone to concerts and enjoy live performances. The longest musical performance in history is currently taking place in the church of St. Burchardi in Halberstadt, Germany. The performance of John Cage's "Organ2/ASLSP (As Slow As Possible) started on Sept. 5, 2001, and is set to finish in the year 2640. The "performance" is being played one chord at a time on an organ specifically built for the task. It only has six pipes and the instrument itself is enclosed in a Plexiglas box. The last time the note changed was earlier this year on September 5th. The current chord will be played for 2,527 days or until February 5, 2022.
