DUI arrest follows fatal car crash in Madison County

Virginia State Police are investigating a single car crash that occurred in Madison County on Sunday July 16th at 12:20 AM, according to Corinne Geller, a representative of the State Police.

A 2003 Ford F-150 was traveling South on Old Blue Ridge Turnpike, less than a mile from Finks Hollow Road, when it ran off the road and struck several trees.

The passenger, Maya D. Powell, 20, of Culpeper, died at the scene.

The driver, Shawn A. Lohr, 19, of Rixeyville, suffered minor injuries.

Neither were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the impact.

Lohr was arrested for a DUI and driving under the influence while under the age of 21.

VSP investigate fatal crash in Page County

Virginia State Police are investigating a two car, fatal crash that occurred along Collins Avenue in Page County.

A 2003 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling south crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Helen Desimone, 55, of Luray, was taken to Page Memorial Hospital and later died from her injuries.

The 74 year old female driver of the Mercury, also from Luray, suffered serious but non life threatening injuries.

Her juvenile passenger was also uninjured.

It is believed the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt and a medical emergency is considered a factor in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation.

VSP investigate a fatal accident in Clarke County

Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a three vehicle fatal accident in Clarke County.

Terry Doyle of Stephens City crossed the double yellow line on Lord Fairfax Highway sideswiping a car.

After sideswiping the car Doyle collided head on with motorcyclist John Seifert of Boyce.

Seifert perished at the scene.

Doyle was transported to Winchester Medical Center with serious injuries and charged with reckless driving.

The person in the third vehicle was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.

John L. Cunningham of Strasburg was killed in a head on collision in Warren County Sun..

The 33 year old was struck head on by 30 year old Charles J. Corathers of Front Royal.

Corathers’ vehicle crossed the centerline colliding with Cunningham on his motorcycle on Rt. 55 near Fort Valley Rd..

Corathers has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, possession with the intent to distribute drugs and possession of paraphernalia.

He is being held at the regional jail without bond.
