Are you a chionophobic? According to Very Well Mind dot com, chionophobia is a type of phobia categorized as an environmental phobia, in particular an intense fear of snow. According to the American Meteorological Society, environmental phobias like chionophobia are the second most prevalent phobia subtype. Chionophobia is not just a dislike of snow or a rational fear of severe weather forecasts. It is an irrational fear of snow that is typically linked to a fear of death or bodily harm. Though phobias can and do manifest themselves differently in different people’s experiences, there are typically two primary fears behind chionophobia: the fear of becoming snowbound and the fear of being stranded in snow. For people with true chionophobia, the mere forecast of a winter storm or snowfall can induce physiological symptoms of fear and anxiety-like cold sweats, panic attacks, and even an unrealistic feeling of doom and dread. The best methods for coping with the fear of snow depend on the severity and the level of impact that your fear has on your life. If your fear is severe or life-limiting seek the guidance of a trained mental health professional. Listen to the podcast here; https://theriver953.com/lonnies-fun-fact/

Are you a plutophobic? No, it’s not the fear of that tiny planet. Plutophobia is the fear of money or wealth. According to The Recovery Village dot com, people with plutophobia may fear becoming wealthy themselves or have a fear of wealthy people. They generally dread money and having to deal with it. People with this fear may potentially sabotage their career to prevent them from making more money or becoming wealthy. The fear of becoming wealthy may stem from a fear of the responsibilities or pressures associated with it or the fear of getting robbed. I’ve never had enough money to know if I suffer from this rare phobia, but if someone wants to give me a bunch of money, I’d be happy to be part of a test group, for a few years, you know in the name of science. Winter is coming and that’s a bad thing if you are cryophobic. Cryophobia is the fear of the cold, or cold things. Cryo is a combination form meaning icy cold or frost. You may have heard of cryogenics. A similar phobia is frigophobia. Fridge from the Latin word for cold, frigus. Here in the US frigophobia is virtually nonexistent. While still rare in other countries, it seems to be a culturally-related phobia in Chinese populations in Asia. Whether cryophobic or frigophobic, winter is not your favorite time of year and you may even have a aversion to cold things or even cold food. I wonder if that includes ice cream. I don’t think I could be a frigophobic, I love ice cream. Listen to the podcast here; https://theriver953.com/lonnies-fun-fact/
