The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reports by email responding to a three-vehicle fatal crash on February 24.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. emergency services out of Jefferson County arrived at the intersection of Berryville Pike and Smith Road.

On arrival authorities found a black Honda Civic overturned with occupants trapped inside.

A black Jeep Cherokee showed some front-end damage and was found facing north but blocking southbound lanes on Berryville Pike.

A blue Chrysler Sebring was south of the crash with front end driver side damage.

Further investigation indicated that the Honda may have been attempting a left turn onto to South Road but passed the intersection.

As the Honda attempted to correct it went over the double yellow line and was struck by the Jeep.

The impact caused the Honda to overturn and the Chrysler was unable to avoid the vehicles and made contact.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The passenger of the Honda was transported to Jefferson Medical Center where they succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the Chrysler was also transported to Jefferson Medical with no report available on their current condition at the time.

The driver of the Jeep was checked by Emergency Services at the scene but did not require transportation to a medical facility.

The names of those involved are not being released pending notification of next of kin.
