As of Saturday minimum wage in Virginia went from the Federally mandated $7.25 an hour to $9.50 an hour.

This was part of a state law passed last year.

Minimum wage is projected to increase to $11 an hour in January then to $12 an hour in 2022.

If approved by future legislature minimum wage could reach $15 an hour by 2026 in the state.
