The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind in Romney updated their status on the loss of their Administration Building.

The historic landmark building was deemed a total loss after a fire early Sat. morning Feb. 26.

No injuries were reported in the blaze as occupancy was limited as it was a weekend.

Students will be in remote learning status through at least Mar. 4.

It was announced yesterday that the investigation continues with the assistance of agents from the US Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) who were called in by Gov. Justice.

Those agents will be assisted by agents of the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office as well as local law enforcement along with Officials from the West Virginia Department of Education.

Those officials will remain on the site until the investigation has been completed.

Immediately after the fire Gov. Justice requested that Frontier Communications prioritize the restoration of all internet services, telephone and campus security lost in the blaze.

Frontier Communications crews worked night and day to restore all services by the day after the fire.
