Front Royal fires off a bird cannon
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Wildlife Division started firing off their bird canon in Front Royal last night Tues. May 31.
This is done to scare and prevent the roosting of vultures on cell towers and nearby homes.
The bird canon is extremely loud and sounds like a gun being fired.
Authorities are asking that you not be alarmed and do not call the communications center of the Front Royal Police Department (FRPD).
The FRPD announced that the communications center could become overloaded causing an important serious call for service to be missed.
The bird cannon is currently placed in the Royal Avenue Academy Drive area.
The cannon will be fired intermittently for approximately 30 minutes around dusk each night for the next two weeks.
