The Mount Jackson Police Department released additional information in their ongoing investigation of the death of two in the 200 block of Orkney Drive.

The two that were found deceased were identified as 63-year-old Frederic S. Conrad and 51-year-old Jane L. Moomaw both of Mount Jackson.

When the officers arrived at 2:47 a.m. August 27 they found four victims in the incident.

Two unidentified victims included a 67-year-old female from Mount Jackson and a 48-year-old male from Basye who were injured.

Those victims are currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Inova Hospital and UVA Medical Center respectively.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Conrad approached Moomaw and the others outside a residence at approximately 2:45 a.m.

An argument ensued and Conrad shot Moomaw and the others and then shot himself.

A handgun and casings were recovered at the scene.

All involved were acquaintances.

The residence belongs to one of the surviving victims.

The crime scene investigators were assisted by 9 different agencies from the surrounding area and the investigation continues.
