The National Emergency Food and Shelter Program (NEFSP) has awarded Winchester an additional $9,000 in funding.

This and an additional $29,525 are to be used by local agencies to assist families in the City of Winchester.

The United Way of the Northern Shenandoah Valley (UWNSV) chairs the local board of the NEFSP and are accepting applications.

The UWNSV is able to offer the funds to agencies that provide services to Winchester residents.

According to an email from the UWNSV the additional funds are intended to supplement and expand current resources.

The funds are not to substitute or reimburse ongoing services or start new programs.
