The American Red Cross is asking for patience as they  continue to struggle with donations and staffing issues.

We spoke again this week with the Executive Director of the American Red Cross for the greater Shenandoah Valley Eric Anderson in our latest news maker.

Eric tells us of the difficulties the Red Cross has faced with the pandemic, drive cancellations and staff shortages.

He also tells us that some progress is being made but it is a slow processes.

News Maker Eric Anderson on Red Cross blood crisis

The American Red Cross continues to urge donors to make appointments for blood donations.

We spoke with the Executive Director of the American Red Cross for the Greater Shenandoah Valley Eric Anderson about the blood crisis  in our latest news maker.

Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is on

You are encouraged to set your appointment now for next Friday Jul. 9 Battle of the Badge Blood Drive.

You can set an appointment at redcrossblood.org using the code battle2021.

Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Frederick Fire and Rescue Personnel are looking to recruit donors.

The organization with the most donors wins the coveted trophy.

More importantly donors can boost the blood supply which is listed by American Red Cross as in severe shortage.

The need for blood is great not just because of summer which is always a high demand time.

But with the pandemic ending necessary surgeries are starting to take place and blood is needed.

A person can donate every 56 days and if you can give it is important to do so and greatly appropriated.

American Red Cross Blood Drive in Front Royal

The American Red Cross Blood Drive stops at the Front Royal Fire Hall on Commerce Ave. tomorrow May 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m..

The River’s own Randy Woodward will be there 10 to noon as well.

Appointments are available at redcrossblood.org use your zip code to find a drive near you.

All donors tomorrow will receive a $5 Amazon e-gift card at the Fire Hall.

Another opportunity to give is Friday at the American Legion on 8 St. Front Royal from noon to 5 p.m..
