The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call regarding a shooting at the WVU Urgent Care in Spring Mills.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they spotted a female lying unresponsive in the parking lot.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as Jennifer Conley, 49, of Hedgesville.

Deputies obtained a description of the vehicle and suspect, and then relayed that information to law enforcement from around the area.

Shortly after, Martinsburg Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The suspect was identified as the victim’s ex-husband, Dennis Conley, 53, of Hedgesville.

He was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered in his vehicle.

Preliminary investigations have shown that the suspect made threats to his ex-wife over the last few months leading up to the shooting.

Dennis Conley was charged with murder and transported to Eastern Regional Jail where he remains without bond.
