Women United host air mattress drive

The United Way of the Northern Shenandoah Valley’s Women United is holding an air mattress drive.

Women United will accept new air mattresses, pumps, comforters and pillows for all of February to help fight housing insecurity.

82% of requests to the Valley Assistance Network in 2021 involved housing assistance.

Donations can be made online through their Amazon Wish List.

They can also be dropped off at numerous locations including the United Way, First Bank branches, Navy Federal Credit Union, Shenandoah University, the Blue Ridge Food Bank and the Winchester Group.

Berryville offers funds for housing assistance

Berryville announced through an email that it’s implementation plan for the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 will provide funds for housing.

A $40,000 grant will provide non-profit organizations the opportunity to deliver housing assistance to low income homeowners.

Berryville will take applications from organizations looking to improve owner occupied housing through Feb. 24.

Specific questions about the funds and applications must be submitted by Feb. 8.
