REC and VDOT prepare for inclement weather this weekend

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC), and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) like everyone, are monitoring the winter weather system that could be affecting the area January 6.

The Cooperative has safety reminders and helpful tips available here.

It is important to keep devices charged, secure a secondary heating source, gather warm bedding and clothing before the storm hits.

Bookmark the REC/VDOT and River 953 websites to remain informed through any inclement weather.

Always report downed power lines to both local authorities through 911 as well as your electric provider.

Your electric provider will also provide an outage center at their respective websites.

VDOT is preparing as well by treating roads with plows at the ready.

VDOT offers up to the minute plow monitoring here.

Stay tuned to the River 953 and Fox Sports Radio AM 1450 for Kemp Miller’s comprehensive weather forecast and cancellations.
