Vipers return to Winchester for annual camp

The Virginia Valley Vipers of The Basketball League (TBL) returned to Winchester last week for their annual Valley Vipers Basketball Camp in partnership with Frederick County and Winchester Parks and Recreation departments.

The event welcomed over 70 participants including families in need of financial assistance through Frederick County Parks and Recreation’s P.L.A.Y. Fund.

Young athletes worked on their skills in a supportive environment with drills led by Valley Vipers players, coaches and Handley alum Michael Brown.

Brown was a 2 time All State selection at Handley and has played professionally overseas as well as with the Vipers.

The team relocated from Winchester to Purcellville last year for their home games, but Josh Kirby, Director of Communications and Media Relations for the team said, “The Vipers’ move to Purcellville will never change the fact that we will continue supporting Winchester and the surrounding communities.”

The Vipers host try-outs for next year’s team on September 14th at Patrick Henry College.
