There’s hope if you fear or loath going over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge

Memorial Day Weekend means the unofficial start of summer and many will be going over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the Eastern Shore.

If you fear or loath going over the near 380 foot tall over 4-mile-long Chesapeake Bay Bridge, you are not alone.

In fact, there is now a service being offered that drives you over the bridge.

Kent Island Express Car Service offers a team member that can be scheduled to meet you to drive you either east or westbound over the bridge.

The Car service owner Steven Eskew asked that you call at least an hour ahead of your trip over the bridge.

Eskew or a team member will meet you at a designated location and drive you over the bridge.

Team members will follow and pick up their colleague to take them back over.

Eskew notes that during peak times his team has made as many as 44 trips in one day.

The request for assistance increased tremendously since the COVID pandemic and have hit a new high since the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Some people have even asked their driver to allow them to ride in the trunk of the vehicle until the trip was over.

Where drivers cannot allow that, they will allow you to lie down in the back seat with a towel or something over your head.

The trip is $40 each way and can cost $50 if you use a credit card.
