Winchester celebrates Patsy Cline’s 90th birthday

Patsy Cline would have turned 90 years old this weekend and Winchester is celebrating her life on Saturday.

The 12th annual block party and concert at Patsy Cline Theater will benefit the Patsy Cline Historic House on S Kent Street where she lived from 1948-1953.

The block party will take place outside her former home from 10 am to 4 pm and Kent Street will be closed from Monmouth St to Germain St.

Festivities will include musical performances, home tours and a pause for birthday cake to honor Patsy Cline with her daughter, Julie Fudge.

The evening will culminate in a concert with Grand Ole Opry member Mandy Barnett.

She also starred in the musical “Always… Patsy Cline” for 15 seasons in Nashville.

Shots fired into Winchester residence

The Winchester Police Department responded to a shots fired report yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses identified Christopher Bee, 38, to the officers on scene for firing shots in the air and into an occupied home on Kent Street.

Officers were led to his residence where he was taken into custody.

Bee was then transported to the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center where he is held without bond.

He is charged with attempted murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and possessing a firearm as a felon.

Winchester offers self serve kiosks for various payments

The City of Winchester is offering two self serve kiosks to make a variety of payments.

Currently utility bills or personal property taxes can be payed at these kiosks with more payment options coming.

The kiosks are available at City Hall on the third floor as well as at the Creamery Building Lobby at 21 S. Kent Street at the Commissioner of Revenue and Treasurer’s Office.

The machines accept cash or debit/credit cards with a convenience fee for using cards.

Future payment options may become available for real estate taxes, parking rentals as well as ems billing.

Opportunities to set up a personal account is currently available at the kiosks as well.
