The Spotted Lanternfly threat widens

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Service (VCES) advises that the Spotted Lanterfly is spreading through the state.

The destructive insect has been reported from Page to Prince William Counties despite the quarantine that was put in place.

This time of year the insects are in their 4th instar phase and will appear largely red with black and white markings.

An adult Lanternfly has pinkish-tan wings with spots with yellow abdomens with black stripes.

To help stop the spread you are asked to kill the insect immediately.

More information is available at the VCES website with eradication training available.
