Nearly 500 bookbags donated by the community
Local State Farm agents and community organizations are coming together to prepare kids to head back to school with a bookbag and school supply drive.
The total number of bookbags collected reached almost 500 with 270 coming from the Rotary Club of Warren County.
Another 200 backpacks were donated by the Kiwanis Club of Front Royal.
The Salvation Army, MDUB Chauffeur Services and other volunteers also helped to get these bookbags and supplies ready for local children who are getting ready for the school year.
Kiwanis donates $5000 to EWMES
Kiwanis Club of Front Royal raised over $5000 for E Wilson Morrison Elementary School.
A portion of the gift is possible thanks to the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation who provided $2500 of that money via grant.
The local Kiwanis chapter raised the remaining funds.
The funds were put towards redoing the blacktop playground at the elementary school which has already been finished.
John Lake Paving Co Inc. was responsible for completing the project.
A ceremony to present the check for the total amount will be held Monday at 2 pm at E. Wilson Morrison.
