Armel student inadvertently brings knife to school

Armel Elementary School Principal Heather Miller sent home a letter to parents of students from the Frederick County Public School stating that a student “inadvertently brought a knife to school in their personal belongings.”

The statement said that the student notified the teacher immediately upon noticing the knife and that proper steps were taken in accordance with FCPS policy.

The letter went on to discuss that guardians are often unaware of what students bring to school and inappropriate items are often carried in a book bag or article of clothing.

She encouraged parents to take this opportunity to discuss with their children what is acceptable to bring to school and to check the student’s belongings to insure they do not inadvertently bring items to school.

Miller also reminded parents to speak with their students about properly reporting suspicious activities to school staff or a resource office.
