First Night Winchester debuts celebration plans

The City of Winchester announced their plans for New Years on Tuesday.

The City and Old Town partnered with the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, the Winchester Economic Development Authority and the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival to put together a celebration which will run begin at 10 am on New Year’s Eve through the morning of New Year’s Day.

MSV will host free family oriented entertainment from 10 am to 5 pm on December 31st with magic shows, visitors from the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center, and the First Night Winchester Coloring Contest.

Winners from each age group will receive a prize and have their work displayed in the gallery.

Starting at 5 pm, Old Town will welcome musical performances, fire jugglers, and much more.

From 6 pm till midnight, the Court House lawn will host a glow party, laser light show, and live DJ concluding with a Winchester staple, the Apple Drop.

Then race into 2024 in a healthy way with a New Year’s Day Fun Run starting at 8 am back at MSV.
