The American Red Cross is not just facing a blood shortage but a staffing shortage as well.

We spoke to the Red Cross Donor Recruiter Lisa Wilt in our latest news maker.

The Battle of the Badges blood drive is today Jul. 9 with appointments open at redcrossblood.org.

Use the code battle2021 at that website to set an appointment.

Lisa Wilt of the American Red Cross told us of the critical need for blood at this time.

She also talks of the origin of the battle and how we might see them more often.

Where the battle is a fun way to boost the supply of blood there are blood drives around the area all the time.

Red Cross VT Blood Drive is today Apr. 16

The 14 annual Virginia Tech Blood Drive is today Apr. 16 at The Fellowship Bible Church 3217 Middle Road Winchester from 11:30 to 7 p.m..

Donors will be entered for a $1,000 e gift card drawing.

Chick-Fil-A is offering boxed lunches.

The River’s Randy Woodward will be there from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m..

Appointments are still available at redcrossblood.org by entering the zip code 22602 or the code VT21.

A talk with Lisa Wilt about the VT blood drive

The American Red Cross will hold its annual Virginia Tech blood drive this Friday at Fellowship Bible Church.

This is the 14th year of the drive in honor of those who lost their lives in the Virginia Tech tragedy of April 16, 2007.

The Church is located at 3217 Middle Road Winchester and to make an appointment go to redcrossblood.org.

You can type into the zip code location on the site 22602 or the code VT21.

Randy Woodward of The River will be on hand from 11:30 to 1:30.

There are other incentives to attend the drive as well like the chance to win an e gift card and a lunch from Chick-Fil-A.

Not to mention doing a great deed for the community.
