Am. Red Cross reports an even higher need for blood donors

battle of the badges blood drive

The American Red Cross reports by email an even lower than expected blood supply and puts out an urgent request for blood donors.

To help with the effort Gore’s Meats will be hosting their second annual Beef Up the Blood Supply blood drive August 11.

The blood drive will be held at the Stephen’s City Fire Department from Noon to 6 p.m.

The American Red Cross is asking that we show the Power of the Valley by way of donations.

Gore’s Meats once again this year is offering hamburgers for the event just as they did last year for donors.

The Red Cross is making it easier for everyone to donate blood as well.

Just as they did not too many years ago those with tattoos and piercings are now eligible to give, provided the argumentation is at least 3 months old.

And now as of  August 7, newer donor guidelines have been established that eliminate questions based on sexual orientation.

These changes now allow an all-inclusive opportunity to give blood.

As of the last report only half of the appointments at the August 11 blood drive are filled.

Donations are desperately needed, and the blood supply can be bolstered  with the power of the valley.

If you can give please make an appointment here using the zip code 22655.

Make that donation August 11 and get a great burger and Route 11 chips with other chances to win.
