WinReady brings new transportation option to Winchester

Winchester Transit is adding a new micro-transit service this spring, WinReady.

WinReady is an addition to the transit system’s four fixed routes and will offer a direct point-to-point service that will pick you up and take you wherever you need to go in the City of Winchester within 30 minutes.

Users will request a ride through the new WinReady App available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Once in the app, users will be asked to sign up and enter a credit or debit card.

After the account is set up, users can request a pick up from their current location and a drop-off address with a process similar to what is in place on apps like Uber or Lyft.

Then residents can select the amount of seats needed.

Once matched with a WinReady vehicle, users will meet the driver at a pickup.

For rider safety, verify that the vehicle arriving is the same model and has the same license plate that is listed in the app.

Residents are invited to a few upcoming workshops to learn more about the service:

  • March 20, 3:30 p.m. – Virginia Ave Elementary School
  • March 21, 3:30 p.m. – John Kerr Elementary School
  • March 25, 10 a.m. – Douglas School
  • March 26, 3:30 p.m. – Quarles Elementary School

The City of Winchester will host a Pre-Launch event on Saturday at the Old Town Walking Mall from 11 am – 2 pm to introduce the app and one of the buses while enjoying some food, music, and games.

WinReady will begin its service on March 25th.
