FCPRD’s hosts annual Battlefield Half Marathon
Frederick County Parks and Recreation is hosting their annual Battlefield Half Marathon and Relays today.
The 13.1 mile race starts at the Kernstown Battlefield in Winchester at 8 am.
The course then travels along a scenic stretch of Middle Road which will be closed 7:45 am- 11:00 am.
Portions of Apple Valley, Germany, Shady Elm, Springdale Road and Saratoga Drive will also be closed for the race so plan to take an alternative route if traveling through the area.
Awards will be given for the top competitors individually and relay teams with the top male and female finisher’s taking home $750.

FCPRD hosts Battlefield Half Marathon
The Battlefield Half Marathon and Relay will get started this morning.
The starting line will be in the Kernstown Battlefield and then proceed to a scenic run on Middle Road.
For the protection of the runners, portions of Middle Road and a few adjacent roads will be closed.
If you are supporting a runner or a spectator, a battlefield walking tour will be available.
It will last about an hour and give you plenty of time to get back to the finish line to support your runners.
