The Maryland State Police Aviation Command report the rescue of a woman who ended up down a 70-foot cliff.

Rescue teams were called to the Cacapon River area at the West Virginia Maryland line on the evening of August 8.

Upon arrival authorities found a car had plunged down a 70-foot embankment on Power House Road in Morgan County.

A 19-year-old female was trapped inside the vehicle that had traveled off the road and rolled down the embankment.

The victim was extricated from the vehicle and treated for injuries before being placed in an inflatable raft and floated downriver to an accessible hoisting point.

The women needed aerial rescue due to the steep terrain, severity of her injuries and the precarious location of her vehicle.

Once in the hoisting location a trooper and paramedic were lowered 130-feet down from the helicopter.

Once in place the victim was hoisted by patient platform to the helicopter and flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of injuries.
