Gas tax proposal moves to House Appropriations Committee

An email from Governor Youngkin praises the House Finance Committee for voting for his  gas tax proposal to move forward.

The proposal will now move on to the House Appropriations Committee to be considered.

The proposal uses less than $440 million of the more than $1 billion surplus in the Commonwealth’s transportation fund to suspend the state’s gas tax for three months.

Similar gas tax holidays in other states have quickly reduced gas prices.

In the governor’s words he is looking forward to working in a bipartisan manner with the General Assembly to help pass this important legislation.

The governor added that passage of the proposal will bring needed relief  for Virginians  especially heading into the summer months.
