Laurel Ridge Community College is the voted on and approved new name of the local community college.

Voted on by students, faculty, alumni, LFCC retirees, community members, and college board members.

The name comes from the native laurel flower that is characteristic of the region, and is also said to be associated with academic achievement all the way back to the ancient Greek and Roman times.
