Virginia State Police are investigating a non-fatal officer involved shooting in Warren County.

At approximately 8:30 last night Mar. 11 Northwest Virginia Regional Drug and Gang Task Force were conducting narcotics operation involving a drug courier from Baltimore.

The suspect attempted to flee in his vehicle ramming one of the investigators knocking him to the ground.

Shots were fired from other officers running the suspect off the road and into an embankment.

The suspect suffered serious injuries and was transported to Winchester Medical Center.

The officer suffered minor injuries with no other injuries reported.

The incident took place in the 9800 block of Winchester Road near Interstate 66.

The incident remains under investigation.
