Front Royal Town Council appoint a new council person
At the Front Royal town council’s Tues. Oct 11th work session members of council approved appointing a new council member.
Duane Skip Rogers was elected to council by a 3 to 2 vote to fill a vacancy.
Rogers was selected among several unspecified number of people who applied to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of councilmen Joseph McFadden.
McFadden resigned his council seat at a work session in August.
Rogers will serve in the position until a special election is held November 7, 2023.
Two members of council including Vice Mayor Cockrell voted no to the appointment not because of Rogers inability to serve but rather because of McFadden’s resignation being accepted as late as it was.
The acceptance by council left two members and McFadden wondering if the resignation can actually be valid.
