News Maker Megan Goin on Shenandoah River State Park 25 anniversary

Virginia’s Shenandoah River State Park turns 25 on June 19.

We spoke to Chief Ranger of Visitor Experience Megan Goin about the celebration planned in our latest news maker.

Megan gives us a little history behind the park and the involvement Delegate Raymond R. Andy Guest had with the original development of the park.

She also tells us what’s planed on June 19 to celebrate including a time capsule installation to take place.

Megan would also like the community input with the time capsule with any memorabilia from the park and the development which can be taken to the park before June 19.

News Maker Megan Goin on SRSP activities

Virginia is gearing up for the April 8 partial eclipse of the sun.

We spoke with Chief Ranger of Visitor’s Experience Megan Goin at the Raymond R. Andy Guest Shenandoah River State Park (SRSP) in our latest news maker.

Megan tells us that their eclipse activities begin around 2 at the state park off of Route 340 South in Warren County.

She also tells us that there is a new festival coming the following Saturday April 13 to celebrate the Virginia’s Bluebell.

Megan also tells us that the state park has some of the eclipse watching glasses and a telescope equipped with a filter to view the eclipse safely.

Speaking of viewing the eclipse safely be sure to read the instructions on your eclipse glasses.

Some of the eclipse glasses are not meant to be worn for an extended period of time.
