News Maker Lenny Millholland on consequences of threats

Last week the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) wrapped up their investigation involving threats to a school.

Now two 13 year old students face some serious charges.

We spoke with Frederick County Sheriff Lenny Millholland about the consequences for those making threats in our latest news maker.

Sheriff Millholland explains what a person who makes such a threat faces.

He Explains that such a threat will meet with serious and costly consequences.

Sheriff Millholland also explains these kind of threats can cause a number of problems for all involved from parents to students, school staff as well as his own staff.

News Maker Tony Brooks on a golf tournament fundraiser

The third annual Fore the Kitties Golf Tournament to benefit Dakota’s Dream Animal Rescue in Winchester is set for August 20.

We spoke to the coordinator of the event Tony Brooks about it in our latest news maker.

Heroes on the River is a group offering combat Veterans group adventures.

The organization just launched their website Sun. and have a new direct phone line.

We spoke to Heroes on the River representative Adam Packham in our latest news maker.

Adam tells us that this weekend’s Skydive excursion still has room for combat Veterans.

That trip was just declared the largest combat Veteran tandem skydive in the United States by the U.S. Parachute Association.

News Maker Andrea Cosans on C-Cap’s Freedge

Winchester’s Congregational Community Action Project (C-Cap) has officially opened  a free refrigeration unit that has fresh produce.

They call the unit the Freedge and it is available with fresh produce for families in need.

The unit is available for both pick up and or drop off at the Our Health Campus Winchester.

We spoke to C-Cap’s Executive Director Andrea Cosans about the Freedge in our latest news maker.

News Maker Mark Sutphin on the Joro spider

Parachuting spiders have been reported in the southern states and some suspect that they may be coming to Virginia.

We spoke with Virginia Cooperative Extension Agent Mark Sutphine about the Joro spider in our latest news maker.

There is good news too as Mark relays to us that flying or ballooning spiders are not that uncommon.

Another thing Mark tells us is that the Joro spider poses very little threat to humans.

Mark also tells us that the Joro spider has been seen eating recent pest that have become a real problem in only the last few years.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day The Humane Society of Warren County (HSWC) will hold their first ever Pup Crawl.

This event is tomorrow Mar. 17 and features several Front Royal  restaurants.
