Virginia sees 17% decrease in layoffs

The Department of Workforce Development and Advancement announced today that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics November Survey found a decrease in layoffs across the Commonwealth.

Data has shown that layoffs have fallen by 4,000, or 17% over the month and 10% for the year.

The survey also found that Virginia saw a 15% decrease in workers quitting their jobs over the past year, a 4 percent decrease from five years ago.

Most of the other rates in the November report were relatively stagnant including churn rate, hires per job openings, and hires rate.
