WPD promote Officer Myrtle
Winchester Police Department (WPD) Chief John Piper announced the promotion of Lieutenant Frank Myrtle to the rank of Captain.
Myrtle began his career in law enforcement when he joined the WPD in 2002.
Myrtle has served as a Detective and Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Division for over ten years.
Captain Myrtle has served the citizens of Winchester in other positions as well including as a Sergeant in the Patrol Division.
Myrtle has also been very active in volunteer activities including the Police Department’s Kids and Cops Camp.
Now Captain Myrtle will be the Commander of the Administration Division of the WPD.

WPD make an arrest after a lengthy stand off
Officer Frank Myrtle of the Winchester Police Department (WPD) reports in an email the arrest of a teen.
WPD Officers responded to the 500 block of Armour Dale Drive to locate a teenage male wanted on outstanding charges of assault and detention order.
Information obtained by the WPD indicated that the youth was at a relative’s residence by himself and possibly armed.
Members of the Department’s Crisis Negotiation team attempted to communicate for several hours with the male to no avail.
The WPD SWAT team entered the residence at approximately 7:30 p.m. and took the subject into custody without incident.
No firearm was located in the building.
The Winchester male was transported to the Juvenile detention center.
