Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reports the recovery of the body of a missing West Virginia man.

The body of a man reported missing was recovered Monday, February 19 at approximately 12:20 p.m.

Jason Tyler Shingleton was reported last seen in Romney, West Virginia around 2:30 a.m. Sunday February 18.

A search was launched by HCSO, West Virginia State Police, and concerned citizens.

Searchers were walking the road Shingleton was known to use when a citizen spotted a car in a creek bed off Northwestern Pike Route 50.

It appeared the vehicle for a reason yet to be determined went off the right side of the road for several feet before striking the creek bank.

Neither the 2012 Chevrolet Cruz Shingleton had been driving nor his body were visible from the road.

The 26-year-old Shingleton of Purgistsville, West Virginia was ejected from the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation with Shingleton’s remains transported to the Medical Examiner to determine exact cause of death.
