The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) reports by email a high speed chase through two jurisdictions.

At approximately 4:30 the morning of December 19 a FCSO Deputy began a chase of a Honda Accord that was clocked at 77 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone on Lee Highway.

The attempt to initiate a traffic stop failed and several law enforcement personnel were called into the pursuit.

The Honda made several erratic maneuvers including turns and illegally passing vehicles on his way to reaching up to 120 miles per hour.

As the vehicle made its way toward Prince William County those county’s authorities joined the chase.

At one point the driver of the Honda attempted to split the travel lanes between a Cadillac Escalade and a Jeep Wrangler striking both vehicles.

After attempting to turn into the Reserve at Lake Manassas neighborhood the driver lost control due to speed and crashed into trees.

Zechariah Hayes of Fredericksburg was taken into custody with guns drawn by officers from all jurisdictions.

The 25 year old Hayes was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
