VA. has one of the most visited parks in the U.S.
The National Park Service (NPS) released visitation numbers for 2021.
Of the NPS system’s 423 parks 44 of them set records for visitation in 2021.
Six parks broke 2020’s attendance records.
Virginia and North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Parkway received the most visitors of all the parks in 2021.
The park which runs the Appalachian High Lands from Virginia to North Carolina recorded over 15 million visitors for the year.
Park supervisors have taken note that the increase in visitation can take a toll on the park and are asking visitors to plan ahead when it comes to visiting.
