The battle of the badges 2022 blood drive is today July 8 until 4 p.m..

The battle pits Frederick County Sheriff against the Frederick County Fire Chief.

Donors are asked if they support the Sheriff or the Chief when they donate.

You could possibly fill an appointment at redcrossblood.org using the code battle2022.

We spoke to Frederick County Fire Chief Steve Majchrzak about the drive in our latest news maker.

Monday Apr. 18 is the date of this year’s annual Virginia Tech (VT) Memorial Blood Drive.

We spoke to the Donor Recruiter Manager for the Red Cross Lisa Wilt about the opportunity in our latest news maker.

The American Red Cross needs blood donors after blood drive cancellations

Inclement weather has cancelled blood drives in the area taxing an already low blood supply for the American Red Cross.

There are blood drive appointments available in your area.

Using your zip code at redcrossblood.org you can set an appointment convenient for you near your home.

Fri. Jan. 21 a blood drive with appointments open is scheduled for the American Legion Post on Eighth Street Front Royal from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..

If that drive fills up another is available for the future for you to set the appointment.

Donors are able to give every 56 days.

The need is greater than ever as the Red Cross is experiencing the lowest supply in a decade with a 10 percent drop in donations.

The supply limit is affecting the supply delivered to area hospitals.

If you can give that would help supply a severely depleted blood bank.

The American Red Cross is asking donors to continue to make appointments to donate ahead of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Current supplies are the lowest the Red Cross have seen in over a decade.

News Maker Kitty Zuckerman on the Mon. 10/25 Red Cross Blood Drive

Monday Oct. 25 the red cross blood drive will be held at the George Washington Hotel in Winchester from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m..

This drive is in honor of former Winchester Mayor Charles and his wife Virginia Zuckerman.

Charles gave blood every chance he could in fact giving over 38 gallons which is why the American Red Cross honors him.

We spoke to the Zuckerman’s daughter Kitty in our latest News Maker segment.

Kitty talks about her families history of giving and the history of the drives in her dad’s honor as well.
