Authorities close Route 340 in Clarke Co. for close to 7 hours

An email from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) officially closed Route 340 in Clarke County at approximately 1:30 p.m. yesterday June 20.

What was reported as a major accident just after 12:30 led to the closure of Route 340 from Virginia Route 277 at Double Toll Gate to U.S. Route 50 at Waterloo.

A vehicle and tractor trailer accident led to the closure of all lanes on Route 340.

Both vehicles were reportedly on fire at one point after the collision.

VDOT officially announced the reopening of all lanes in an email at approximately 7:25 last night June 20.

The accident remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police with no other details available at this time.

Crossover Blvd. is now open in Winchester and Tevis St. closes

Crossover Blvd. in Winchester is now open connecting Frederick County and Winchester City.

Watch for updated traffic signals and turn lanes at Airport Rd. at the Rt. 522 interchange.

The new road is 4 lanes including a bridge over 81 and will allow for higher volume of traffic.

There is also a large roundabout for the future extension of Warrior Drive.

Because of the ongoing Hope Drive Extension Tevis Street will close permanently starting tomorrow Sept. 14 detours will be in place.

VDOT announces Rockland Rd. is closed to through traffic for repairs

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced the closure of Rockland Rd. for the next couple of days.

Repairs are being made to the railroad crossing before Virginia Hills Church.

The repairs will take a number days to complete and is subject to weather conditions.

It is advised that you use Fairgrounds Rd. until repairs are complete.

Road work in Warren County has begun

road improvements

Road closures and detours are already in progress on Happy Creek Road.

Happy Creek Road is closed from the Front Royal town limits to Dismal Hollow Road.

Dismal Hollow Road remains open from the east side of Happy Creek, Low Water Bridge, Howellsville Road approach.

New work is scheduled to begin July 5 through the 7 at the railroad crossing near Dismal Hollow Road.

During that time the railroad crossing will be impassable.
