Starting today Oct. 4 drivers need to be aware of a new traffic pattern in the area of the Opequon Creek Bridges in Frederick County.

Traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction using the northbound bridge just south of Route 644 on Route 522 Front Royal Pike.

The new bridge will be in the same location as the old bridge but will be slightly higher and wider.

The roadway approaches will be widened with new guardrails a six foot wide shoulder will be provided on the right side of the new bridge as well.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) expects the new bridge construction to last about a year weather permitting.
