The Valley’s Civil War events are kicking off today with a tour presented by the Kernstown Battlefield Foundation.

The tour will be led by renowned author Gary Ecelbarger from 9 am to 4 pm and focus on the First Battle of Kernstown.

The tour will go to a few locations including Pritchard Farm, Rose Hill Park, and a rarely seen part of the battlefield on Sandy Ridge.

This is just the first of many events hosted by the Shenandoah Battlefields Foundation.
