VSP investigate a fatal Warren County Crash

Virginia State Police (VSP) report by email the investigation of a fatal crash in Warren County.

The two-vehicle fatal crash was reported in Warren County Friday May 17 at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Route 340 near Coppermine Road.

A Chevrolet Malibu traveling north on Route 340 failed to negotiate a curve crossed the double solid yellow line and collided head on with a southbound Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cody A. Kanavel of Front Royal suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to those injuries.

The 29-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt.

The 59-year-old male driver of the Toyota from Rileyville was wearing his seatbelt but still suffered serious injuries and was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital.

There is no word on his current condition at the time of this report.
