Search and Rescue save hiker in the SNP

An individual fell about 40 feet at the Franklin Cliffs area while hiking the Shenandoah National Park (SNP).

The person sustained multiple serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a trauma center.

Search and Rescue teams located the patient and were able to conduct a rope rescue and then to a helicopter.

Hikers are reminded to use caution while hiking any trails especially in the SNP.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to assist such searches and rescues should contact the Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group.
