SCSO warns of a scam in Shenandoah County

International Automotive Components Group

Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) announced that residents have reported receiving calls from scammers.

This is the typical scam call where the person tells you that your neighbor, friend or family member has been arrested and needs to be bailed out.

The caller might seem very convincing and even use the names of people you may know.

The SCSO and other authorities remind us that you will never receive an authentic call of this nature.

There are only two ways to bail a person out of jail and both have to be done in person.

One way is through a Magistrate the other is through a Bondsman and again both have to be done in person.

Wiring money or going to an unknown location to post bail is not valid.

If you have received a call like this contact the SCSO at 540-459-6100 to confirm and clarify the call.
