REC accepting applications for several scholarships

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) announced in an email that they are accepting applications for several scholarships.

There are two scholarships for $2,500 and 15 scholarships for $1,000.

These scholarships are available to any high school student who will attend an accredited college, university or career and technical school.

The scholarships are also available to any student who currently is in any of those institutions.

One of the qualifications includes the applicant’s parent or guardian being a current member owner of REC.

Applications must be submitted by Tues. Jan. 25 and are available along with additional details at rec.coop.

SU opens audition for its first marching band

Shenandoah University (SU) in a social post announced it is accepting open video audition for its first ever marching band.

Any current or incoming student is eligible to submit an audition video at this link.

The SU marching band is expected to debut in the fall of 2022.

According to the social post every student who is accepted into the band will receive $2,000 scholarship for the academic school year.

Videos of your specialty can be submitted for winds, drum line, color guard, dance, twirler and rock band are encouraged.
