Teen brings bow and arrow to Staunton schools

The Staunton Police Department received a report about an individual wearing a mask and carrying a bow and arrow on the property of A. R. Ware Elementary and Shelburne Middle School.

The schools were placed on lockdown and shortly after the individual was taken into custody without incident.

A 13 year old male was charged with trespassing and wearing a mask to cover the face while committing a criminal offense.

He is being held at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

Two schools in Stephens City are placed under brief lockdown

In social media post from Sherando High School and Robert E. Aylor Middle School it was announced that the schools were placed under lockdown.

The lockdowns lasted approximately 30 minutes yesterday Dec. 2 for what was described as a law enforcement matter.

Preliminary reports indicate that someone in camouflaged clothing carrying a rifle was seen in proximity of the school’s campuses.

Additional information is expected after a thorough investigation in the incident is completed by Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) and other authorities.
