An individual fell about 40 feet at the Franklin Cliffs area while hiking the Shenandoah National Park (SNP).
The person sustained multiple serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a trauma center.
Search and Rescue teams located the patient and were able to conduct a rope rescue and then to a helicopter.
Hikers are reminded to use caution while hiking any trails especially in the SNP.
